Wildcats pounce on Raiders

Tullahoma High School Wrestling season began this week with matches at Blackman and Coffee County, the Wildcats went 2-2 with wins over Riverdale and Coffee County.

On Tuesday the ‘Cat beat Riverdale 54-24 to start the season. Lucas Willette won the first match by pin fall. Connor Avans won the next match for Tullahoma with another win by pin. Robert Tatum won his match by pin. Brodie Minor and Sayvion Surles followed Tatum up by winning from pin fall. Zachary Murphy, Andres Hamilton, Nolan Stroop and Caiden Mears finished the Riverdale match off by winning the last four matches via pin. The team fell 46-31 in a competitive match against Blackman.Tullahoma went to Manchester Thursday for a three team match against Cookeville and Coffee County. The Lady Wildcats team took on Cookeville to kick the night off and won 12-6. Payton Agnell won her match with a pin. Zoe Holley got the win in the last game to take the match. The boys’ team fell 39-27. Murphy and Kiivon Butler won their battles by pinning their opponent. The Lady Wildcats fell to the Lady Raiders 15-3, Agnell had the lone win 3-2 on points. The boys’ team won 54-21. Murphy, Stroop and Mears won the first three matches by pin fall. Corbin Avans and Conner Avans both pinned their opponents to double Coffee County’s points 36-18. Tatum won in the first period by pinning his matchup. Minor also won with a pin and Surles received a win from forfeit to finish the match.
Tullahoma will host Forrest and Cornersville on Tuesday at the Welsh Wrestling Center at 5 p.m. There are matches scheduled for both the girls’ and boys’ teams.
