Bradley Central Overpowers Blackman In State Wrestling Sectional

Bears Outwrestle Blaze, 54-14; Head To State Duals On February 4th

The Bradley Central Bears showed why they are one of the top teams in Tennessee in the sport of wrestling as they won a tate sectional meet, 64-14, at the Furnace at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro on Saturday.

It is the fifth straight year that Bradley Central will be at the state duals and the 25th time in the history of their storied wrestling program. They will attempt for state title number 15.

Blackman battled at a few weight classes but several pins by the Bears broke things open and gave them the win.

Pins by Gunner Taylor at (160), Wade Brooks at (170) and Knox Watson at (182) all in the first period gave Bradley Central the lead they needed to win.

Blackman got victories at (106) as Sebron Colson pinned Miguel Rincon. Miles Workman won a decision at (195) against Lane Hicks by 4-2. Finally at (126) Thomas Rubio had the most impressive match for the Blaze as he defeated Elijah McKenzie by technical fall 16-0.

Other pinfalls for Bradley Central included Tyee Crisp at (132), Hayden Nichols at (220), Manuel Flores-Urena at (285) and Bryson Terrell at (120).

The state duals are set for Saturday February 4th in Franklin at the Agricultural Exposition Arena. The Class AA quarterfinal matches will get underway at 9 AM. Saturday Morning.
