By this time – many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 7 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 115 teams having sent in information – I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible. Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared – plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” – in the team previews.

Fairview (Tennessee)

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a historic season where they won their first ever team state championship in school history by winning the TSSAA 1A/2A Dual Championships beating Pigeon Forge 39-36. They enter the 2021-2022 season looking to build on that momentum.

Out of the 8 State Placers from last year, the Jackets return 7:

  • Sam Frank (4th@106)
  • Keegan Seaver (5th@120)
  • Jeffrey Anderson (5th@126)
  • Malachi Bennett (2nd@160)
  • Kendrick Curtis (2nd@182)
  • Arie Donaldson (4th@195)
  • Jacob Clevenger (2nd@HWT)

The most notable loss for the Jackets comes at 145lbs where Individual State Champion, Riley Bennett has graduated. This is the only loss from the Jackets starting line up from last season. With the notoriety and success from their Championship run last season, there has been an uptick in interest in joining the team from other athletes in the school, including a solid rising freshmen class and several football players. Additionally, Fairview as a town has grown tremendously resulting in some key additions to the wrestling room. Malachi Bennett (Jr), Curtis (Jr), and Clevenger (Sr) are looking to claim their first individual State Championships creating the potential for an intense environment in the room this season. That, along with a renewed competition for a starting spot at nearly every weight class, should bring an experienced and determined squad to the mat for the 21/22 season looking to repeat as Dual Champions and hungry to earn their first Traditional Championship.
