By this time – many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 6 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 170 teams having sent in information – I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible.

Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared – plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” – in the team previews. Lastly, if you want to know whether we have your form … you can find the list of everyone that has submitted a form in the blog archive.

Cheatham County (TN)

Coach Jeremy Boyd enters his 27th season and should have quite the lineup in 2021-2022. The Cubs finished in the top 20 at the 1A/2A State Tournament and with all 6 State Qualifiers returning … they should be ready to make an impact in 2022.

Daniel White finished 4th at 152 and should lead the way as they look to put more Cubs on the podium this year. Owen Carney, Adan Alvarez, and Spencer Hendrix each won matches at the state tournament and will look to breakthrough and make the podium in 2022. Keep an eye on State Qualifiers Landon Morris and Rolen Prater … they could make it a total of six placers and a top 10 team finish in 2022.

Three freshmen that could also make an impact are Caden Ospina, Kekoa Guerrero, and Gage Forsythe. Amanda Thomason returns for the girls after a strong freshman campaign. She lost in the state semifinals and has been “spending the summer rebuilding her trade and is looking to repeat her success as East Region Champion. With a bump to 119lb, her sights are set on a deep run in the TSSAA State Championships.”

“Strong end of the 2020-2021 season that saw a school record six state qualifiers (Carney, Alvarez, Hendrix, White (4th at 152), Morris, and Prater). With all six returning and having a strong summer that saw these wrestlers competing in tournaments all over the country, the Cheatham County Cubs look to make a strong run in Class A.”
