Greeneville (TN)

Greeneville finished 3rd at the 1A-2A State Traditional Tournament a year ago and with the firepower the Greene Devils return – there is no reason to think they aren’t one of the favorites to claim the team title in 2022. They do lose State Runner-up Hunter Johnson and a few other State Qualifiers, but this team is deep and has a ton of talent. Greeneville is led by nationally-ranked Hunter Mason and Kodiak Cannedy.

Add in 2021 State Placers LeAndre Dabney, Cooper Johnson, Charles Dabney, Morgan lowery, and Zac Chrisman and they are not only one of the best teams in 1A, but one of the best teams in Tennessee regardless of class. Keep an eye on Josue Castillo and Malik Harris as well as incoming freshman Noah Murray.

“We are returning a very experienced squad led by a pair on multiple time state champions – Hunter Mason (Currently ranked 6th nationally) and Kodiak Cannedy (currently ranked 16th nationally). Other returning state medalist are LeAndre Dabney (1st in 2020, 2nd in 2021), Cooper Johnson (5th in 2021), Charles Dabney (6th in 2021), Morgan Lowery (3rd in 2021), and Zac Chrisman (6th in 2021). It’s a really exciting time to be the head coach at Greeneville High School. We have a great bunch of hard-working wrestlers.”
