Northwest (TN)

The Vikings might be the best Girls team in the Southeast. The put 4 on the podium in 2021 including 119 lb. State Champ Roseanna Vaughn. Add in Katelynn Hernandez, Brette Spink, and Lily Chantler (all returning State Placers) and Northwest has to be the favorites to claim the title again in 2022. The impressive thing about the Vikings is that they have the depth behind those four to add points at nearly every weight class in their lineup.

Keep an eye on Shyanne Michalski and Karmen Taylor down low, Christina Newsom and Marissa Chavez in the middle of the lineup and Megan Darnell, Arabella Greene, and Shayra Calderon up top. This is a team that is clicking on all cylinders as we enter the 21-22 season.

As for the boys – keep an eye on Cade Steiner and Camden Myers … both will look to get a Viking to the State Tournament in 2022.

“I think this 2021-2022 season will be a surprising season. We have an extraordinary amount of talent returning and new talent coming to practice. We have put a lot of time and money into our weight room and I think it will help us in the season. I’m looking forward to the competition.”
