Fans across the Middle Tennessee area lined up the MTSU Rec Center as the MTSU Wrestlers faced off against one another in the team’s annual wrestle-off event to determine the varsity spots for each of the NCWA’s 11 weight classes.

125lbs – 2-time NCWA qualifier (2011, 2012) at 125lbs and team captain Anthony Patnode squares off against fellow returning 125lb national qualifier Shane Shaffner in this tightly contested bout.

141lbs – Junior Trey Thigpen returns from a knee injury that sidelined him for the 2011-12 campaign to face-off against Gabe Gamadamis, a returning senior who last suited up for the Blue Raiders during the 2010-11 season.

Exhibition match – 2011 125lb TSSAA State Champion, Sophomore Eric Feuerbacher, squares off against former Ravenwood wrestler Brian Keiffer.

157lbs – Two-time TSSAA state finalist for Clarksville High School, Freshman Chad Isbell, begins his collegiate career facing off against fellow Freshman Ron Higdon from Antioch.

165lbs – MTSU career and season record holder for takedowns, Junior Everett Colbert, looks to start his season by holding off Freshman Khris Sawyer.

174lbs – Sophomore Rakim Talley returns to the Blue Raiders after missing the second half of the 2011-12 season as he faces impact freshman Camden Greco for the 174lb starting spot in an extremely close battle.

285lbs – Returning NCWA National Qualifer from Rossview, Sophomore Tyler Bond, faces-off against determined Sophomore Rashied Rayford in this captivating battle to secure the anchor spot at heavyweight.

EXHIBITION – Sophmores Jonathan Roberts (184lbs) and Rakim Talley square off in a rematch from last year’s exhibition match that saw Roberts walk away as the winner.
